It was a nice hike.
Great trail for a day hike. This is the longer, more challenging way to get to Anthony's Nose - but it also provides more solitude before you get to the popular main section of the trail. The views of the Hudson River, Bear Mountain State Park, and the Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge (formerly the Bear Mountain Bridge) are beautiful, plus it's a great area to see hawks.
From the Bear Mountain Tollhouse, the Camp Smith Trail is a 6.2 mile round-trip to the Nose and back, or you can descend on the Appalachian Trail for a 4.2 mile hike if you don't need to get back to the origin.
I love these short local trails In Westchester. Not too far from safety. Close to nyc.
Great trail for a day hike. Great views.
Beautiful drive in any season. Scenic views and trails to hike. Best place to get away from the city.
